The application of Diamond Frankfurt Abrasive Bricks on natural marble and artificial marble calibration

Calibration, grinding and polishing are three major process in stone polishing, for marble and artificial stone polishing, Frankfurt abrasive polishing stone is widely in use, the polishing heads takes 5-7 pieces abrasive stone mostly, some polishing heads may takes 8 or 9 pieces as well.

Magnesite bonded silicon carbide Frankfurt abrasives is used for calibration and grinding, which is traditional use and now still in use. Magnesite abrasive is aggressive in grinding but it also has short life disadvantages, and users need to stop their works to replace abrasive stone frequently.

To solve this problem, diamond tools manufacturers starts to develop new abrasive tools for marble polishing, a diamond metal bond polishing bricks is designed, several segments are silvered brazed onto a steel base plate in Frankfurt shape, they are tested on polishing machine and they are found with longer life and good in calibration after rounds and rounds of testing with different formula, testing different combination of synthetic diamond and metal powder in different ratio.

With development of technology and design, now there is one popular design in use, two big diamond segment with screw bolt impregnated and then fixed onto steel base plate with screws, easy to install and change if segment worn out.

If stone surface from gang saw or block saw is not so smooth or with steps, diamond Frankfurt calibration brick is suggested to use for first 1-2 steps to make calibration to remove stone stocks and prepare smooth surface for grinding with magnesite bond abrasive polishing stone. It can help save tool life of the magnesite bond abrasive or other abrasive tools to be used after diamond Frankfurt brick.

Diamond particle is more aggressive than silicon carbide and when doing calibration with diamond Frankfurt bricks, the marking or scratches on the marble surface is deeper than magnesite abrasive stone can do. So it is suggested to use coarser grit of magnesite polishing stone to do the calibration and grinding jobs starting from lower grit.

Now artificial marble is popular in production and marketing, more and more factories using Frankfurt abrasives for their artificial marble polishing lines, diamond Frankfurt polishing stone is widely in use as per surface finish quality after sawing. Our diamond frankfurt abrasives lasts about 2-3 months or 50,000~60,000 square meters per head (5-7 pieces), data feedback from our contracted polishing lines in China, spending about 1,000pcs diamond Frankfurt abrasive stone, it is long life and save lots of labor and electricity for stone factories, it is now widely in use and an ideal diamond polishing stone for marble and artificial stone calibration.
